The Evangelistic Alaska Missionary Fellowship keeps busy in the distant Alaskan town of North Pole, Alaska managing its combined TV and Radio broadcast facility. The radio operation is anchored by KJNP-AM, a 50kW station that is heard clear across the Arctic during the overnight hours. Sister station KJNP(FM) delivers 21kW of programming to regional listeners, while six translator sites and a simulcast station ensure service additional communities around Alaska.
An ENCO radio automation customer since 1996, the broadcaster recently upgraded to DAD version 15 – adding new applications to further streamline content management across the automated workflow. First on the list is an upgrade to DAD’s Dropbox utility, which allows operators to remotely ingest programs and other audio files into their vast music library, which automatically show up in the appropriate playlists. Chief Engineer, Redgy Swedberg estimates that Dropbox turns “three or four days of manual playlist work into 10 minutes.”
Operations are further streamlined using ENconveyer, a utility that automatically logs into external content provider websites to download and ingest programs into DAD. ENconveyer’s tight integration with DAD’s Dropbox utility means that operator intervention is limited to visual confirmation that the program was downloaded and ingested into the system.
